One of the major awards which Jaco has claimed over the years was the coveted Property Professional of the Year award in 2010, where he outperformed 15 other finalists which were identified as the top achievers among 43,000 estate agents throughout South Africa.
Already a finalist in 2007 and 2009, winning the award in 2010 placed Jaco at the pinnacle of a highly competitive and extremely demanding industry. At the time he had been practicing for five years and was 28-years-old.
The rigorous judging process and criteria considering all aspects, including sales figures and turnover, ethics and client satisfaction, professionalism, community involvement, marketing and innovation, as well as commitment to education and leadership.
In 2012 Jaco won the Eastern Cape Property Icon Award and also won the business and law category of the Mail & Guardian’s 200 Young South Africans competition. He was also named the Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber’s Top 40 Under 40 business people in the region.
His innovative approach to all aspects of business and his unwavering commitment to customer service has made him a frontrunner in the industry.
Jaco also believes in investing in the community and is constantly involved in charity drives for the places of safety like the Yokhuselo Haven for women and children, and also has spearheaded several fundraisers for various animal welfare groups.
He has also started up the JRE Property Academy – a drive aimed at high school pupils to educate them about the property market, even if they use it as a stepping stone to another profession.
Jaco also uses his time and, often, the money won from his various awards to invest in the local property industry through training initiatives and workshops, giving local realtors essential opportunities he was never afforded by the established real estate fraternity.
He is also a regular to Property24.com and writes various expert column for local and national publications.
